Hi, I'm 22 years old.

I finally quit smoking last week. I was at 1 pack / day so I was expecting the worst, but I'm actually managing fine.

I'm meeting with Tony Blair today, and met a white house rep last Friday. Both of these meetings were for work. This makes my job sound a lot more fancypants than it is -- I'm at a nonprofit that does interfaith work with young people, and our executive director was appointed to a white house council last year, so we get some big bosses visiting our offices. Because I'm "young looking" and have tattoos and am not religious and stuff they often use me as one of the faces of the organization, which means I have to meet with these people and pretend like I'm not a-scared of them.

My main jobs right now are to plan our big upcoming conference, coordinate media facilitation, and do speaking engagements / trainings at various places like high schools on how to have effective interfaith dialogue aka OMG DON'T KILL EACH OTHER OVER JESUS OK. Which means its usually me standing in front of a room of teens wearing a bowtie next to my co-worker in a Hijab, feeling out the comfort level of the room which determines if I can roll up my sleeves (I get really warm when I'm nervous ugh) and expose my aforementioned tattoos, sweating and joking and trying to make everyone feel comfortable. It's more fun than I make it sound, I promise.

Speaking of, I'm writing my Master's thesis on Religion re: storytelling as a tool for interfaith dialogue, non-religious spiritual direction (a form of counseling), and creative expression. I go to a subschool of the University of Chicago; it is a theological school full of people preparing for careers in ministry, and again because I am not religious (or an "Agnostic Humanist" if you will) and have tattoos and stuff, I get some raised eyebrows. (IS THERE AN EMOTICON TO REPRESENT THIS? I DUNNO.)

I'm pretty close to my family, though they all live a few states away and that makes me a little "sadface." (NOW I KNOW THERE IS AN EMOTICON FOR THIS.)

I am a bit behind the times on all this computer stuff still so please be patient with me (I've been playing catch up for a long time since we didn't have a computer, or really much of anything else actually, when I was growing up ok).

I love music and listen to it constantly. Some of my favorites are Tom Waits, Okkervil River, The Notwist, Bill Callahan, Daft Punk, Neutral Milk Hotel, Against Me!, MGMT, St. Vincent, Sigur Ros, Eels, Animal Collective, Akron/Family, LCD Soundsystem, Girl Talk, Gogol Bordello, Joan as Police Woman, aaaaaaaaand I'm done. I wear my headphones for a lot of the day at work. They are a very vibrant yellow.

I also like to write, goof off with friends, go camping and hiking and just be outdoors, and ride rollercoasters. And that is some very surface level stuff about me. JEEZ THIS SOUNDS LIKE A PERSONAL AD.

hiya, my name is jonathan. i'm 19 and hail from the sunny little island of singapore. (well, jonathan is not actually my real name. but i adopt it as an online moniker anyway since about 60% of my fellow countrymen, let alone the global populace) mangle it on a regular basis. my current existence revolves entirely around the fact that i'm stuck in the army (conscription is mandatory here). i'm chinese, so yeah, i'm bilingual, and no, singapore is not in china, but thanks for asking.

i procrastinate way more than is healthy. i spend too much time listening to manufactured pop, but i'd say i'm not very discriminatory when it comes to music - as long as it's good, i'll pick it up. an exception is rap, which is almost entirely shitty. i like a good dose of tv shows too - fringe, the amazing race, csi:ny off the top of my head.

i like travel and places, and hope to travel more extensively beyond asia. i like to study transport systems, and know a thing or 2 about metros. i also know more about things, especially geography-wise, than i should, apparently. of course, this meant that i got a d in geography for my a levels, hip hip hooray.

finally, how did i find this place? it was from a link of 3guys1hammer (no, i didn't actually watch the damn video. sick shit.). my original stomping grounds are survivor sucks and fantasy games central on yuku (i.e. the shittiest forum interface ever), which i'm still very much active in.
