Which reminds me of something I read in God Is Not Great. A Texas governor (who was unnamed, it may have been referring to Bush idk) was asked what he thought about churches using Spanish bibles. He said "if English was good enough for Jesus then it should be good enough for us."

Hey it's a for real protest here which has recently gained momentum as the UC regents just voted to raise tuition by 32%.

But the protests aren't about that so much as allocation of funds by the administration, which has basically just raised their pay and cut school programs.

Protesters here want the UC to value students and teachers and school programs more than Mark Yudof (president of the university) (amongst others) making almost a million dollars a year.

edit: also I was there yesterday night and if you hear about it you'll hear a lot of bullshit.

just remember that as of now it's completely nonviolent and the protesters have not, as has been claimed by the administration, held anyone hostage or barricaded buildings such that people can't leave.

i was there, we were in a building we shouldn't have been i guess, but we just voted on what the demands would be to give to the administration. we let everyone out and made aisles whenever someone wanted to enter or leave the building.

but the administration sent out an email this morning to everyone claiming that they "had to" "negotiate" "for the release of over 150 staff" in the building.

but that was bullshit.

frankly its insulting that the administration is so out of touch that they insult our intelligence.

also they claimed that everyone is protesting because california cut the uc budget and the administration "had to" raise tuition.

the protest is about fund allocation and the values of the uc, not about state funding or whatever the hell.

you'd think that if the administration cared at all that they would at least listen to the students instead of making up things about the protests.

Good on the students for taking a stand. Institutions of power usually try to distort the truth when they feel pressured, I think their lies are a decent sign that they're threatened by you.

My tuition is going up another 30% after the 50% raise this past year & they are cutting even more classes!

and on the topic of tuition rising,
my school's tuition went up as well.
it's an unfourtunate event, b/c it means i'm going to be even more broke.
I think there was a 50-100 dollar rise on the courses,
and added 50 dollars to support some organization.
book prices went up, seminars got cut down, therefore more people per seminar, etc, etc,
and that doesn't include all the added auxilary costs.
I think tuition went from 5000 dollars to 6000 dollars.
it's a pain in the ass ;-;

No, I didn't sleep in Kerr Hall, but we'll see what happens.

Also didn't sleep in the Kresge Town Hall.

(Both are occupied right now. That's all as far as I know last time I checked.)

woo! i have to pay an extra 600 dollars for school -_-

An extra 600 sounds like heaven compaired to my extra 1,000 a semester.
